Algeria : solidarity with the strikers of Numilog

Accueil > International (Engl) > Africa > Algeria : solidarity with the strikers of (...)

At the end of August, 196 workers at Numilog in Bejaia were laid off. This scandalous measure was taken because they had gone on strike for 3 days to demand recognition by the company of the right to organise, the setting up of a participation committee and the reinstatement of trade unionists previously sacked !

We support the workers of Numilog/Cevital who are on strike. As early as 12 September, the General Autonomous Confederation of Workers in Algeria (CGATA), a member of the International Labor Network of Solidarity and Struggle, publicly expressed its total solidarity with the strikers. The CGATA offered to support their struggle and make it known internationally (complaint to the International Labour Organisation, statements by the unions present in the factories of the Cevital group in other countries, etc.). The Algerian authorities do not support any form of independent trade unionism ; in this case, they are blocking the creation of a trade union section ... UGTA !

The member organisations of the International Labor Network of Solidarity and Struggle :
- Support the strikers of Numilog
- Support independent trade unionists, in Algeria and around the world.
- Denounce the Algerian authorities who cover up and organise dismissals and anti-union repression.
