Belarus : Police raid union premises and activists’ homes
19 février 2021

After the trials of activists involved in organising strikes in August and September 2020, the police have taken a new step in the repression against the trade union movement in Belarus. On 17 February 2021, numerous trade union offices as well as the homes of trade union activists were raided by the Belarusian police. As a result, the Belarusian Radio and Electronic Industry Workers’ Union (REP) was raided, many documents and computers were taken. Bullets were "found" : the union considers this to be a provocation with the aim of preparing an even stronger repression.
The trade union organisations that are members of the International Labor Network of Solidarity and Struggle reaffirm their support for independent Belarusian trade unions.
