Black Friday, Make Amazon Pay !

Accueil > Sectors > Shops and services > Black Friday, Make Amazon Pay !

On the night of 25-26 November, workers at Amazon Germany’s warehouses in Bad Hersfeld (two locations), Rheinberg, Koblenz, Graben, Werne and Leipzig, launched a three-day strike. The main demands were that Amazon enforce the retail collective agreement and negotiate working conditions.

An international call "Make Amazon Pay" ( https://makeamazonpay.com/ ) was also signed by Amazon Workers International, Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, the Berlin vs. Amazon coalition and Uni Global Union, among others, it was launched during this crucial weekend for the Amazon group : fifteen countries, including the United States of America, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, Spain, Bangladesh, Australia, for the Amazon supply chain and the Philippines for the call center service department.

The joint demands include the recognition of the rights of workers to demand and join trade unions within Amazon, a substantial increase in wages in view of the group’s exceptional results, consideration of the need to protect the health of workers and to maintain wages in the event of sick leave, especially in this period of the Covid 19 virus pandemic, preservation of the environment, and payment of taxes by Amazon.

Transnational coordination is an appropriate means for the self-organisation of Amazon workers, and the member organisations of the International Labor Network of Solidarity and Struggles give their full support to the striking Amazon workers for the consideration of their demands.
