BRAZIL | September 29th – National Stoppage Towards The General Strike

Accueil > Internacional > Américas > BRAZIL | September 29th – National Stoppage (...)

Last Thursday (September 8th) twenty Unions representing auto and metalworkers across the nation met at São Paulo Metalworkers Union headquarters. They decided to call a national strike this September 29th for labor rights and retirement. They also made a call for others sectors to join into a General Strike.

Metalworkers Unity in Action For Labor Rights and Retirement

The bosses, bankers and governments want to place the burden of the economic crisis on the back of the working class once more. When the economy grows, profits go to corporations and banks. When it comes to crisis, it is thrown on the back of workers through unemployment, cuts on labor rights and less wages.

Enough Is Enough !

We will not accept the changes in Social Security that have been announced by the federal government. Nor the labor reform which places local contracts above labor law, establishes individual hiring contracts not only per weekly working hours but also per work hour and productivity, and the elimination of rights. We need more rights, not less.

Brazil needs to end outsourcing and not expand it as national administration wants and their bill PLC 30/15 predicts. We want decent jobs, less working hours with no loss in pay, more jobs and NR-12 (health and safety in working place law).

Stop money to Banks. We want healthcare, education, housing and good public transportation for workers and the people. We must put an end to this economic policy that only benefits banks and big businesses.

The Way To Prevail The Interests Of The Working Class Is To Struggle

Auto and metalworkers unions across the nation gathered at São Paulo Metalworkers Union headquarters this September 8th call all the workers to close ranks to fight back these attacks nationally. Workers have already been too sacrificed. Less rights does not lead to more jobs.

Workers never achieved anything without struggle. It will not be different now. We affirm categorically : We will fight back any government that attack our rights !

Auto and metalworkers will give a first step through a national strike in September 29. We call all Unions and Labor Federations to unite across the nation towards a General Strike to make our voice heard and assert our rights.

- IN DEFENSE OF RETIREMENT, AGAINST PENSION REFORM !

- IN DEFENSE OF LABOR RIGHTS !

- AGAINST UNEMPLOYMENT AND OUTSOURCING !

- HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, HOUSING AND TRANSPORT FOR ALL !

- AGAINST DISMANTLING LABOR COURTS !

- REDUCTION OF INTEREST RATE (SELIC) !
