Poland: In Poznan and elsewhere, workers must not pay for the Covid-19 health crisis!

Home > International (Engl) > Europe > Poland: In Poznan and elsewhere, workers must (...)

At the beginning of the year 2020, several trade union organisations in the city of Poznan signed an agreement with the city providing for wage increases during this year, for the staff of factories, services, institutions dependent on the city budget.

At the end of June, when the company management had to agree with the trade unions on the dates for the application of the increases, the city reneged on the signed agreement. Unions have accepted a new agreement that endorses this suppression of wage increases because of Coronavirus! This is not the case for the Inicjatywa Pracownicza (Workers’ Initiative), a member of the International Labor Network Solidarity and Struggle, which is fighting for the planned increases to be implemented.

In Poznan, Poland, workers in all parts of the world do not have to pay again for the Covid-19 crisis. We have been, and still are, on the front line; we are suffering working conditions that too often put us at risk. And now the Coronavirus should also be the pretext for blocking our wages? That is out of the question! We support the struggle of our colleagues in Poznan!
