Solidarity with Volkswagen strikers in Poland

Accueil > Union > Solidarity with Volkswagen strikers in (...)

The Red Industry Unions gathered in Paris from November 15 to 16 support the struggling Volkswagen factory workers in Poland and the Workers’ Initiative union.

After many years of increasing work intensity, Volkswagen management has announced massive layoffs at the Poznan factory. A new reorganization of the work caused by the automation of production in "Industry 4.0" mode that the management of VW presents as an inevitable progress due to automation.

But layoffs and deteriorating working conditions are not at all a step forward. These changes are aimed at increasing exploitation. When automation does not lead to a reduction in working time, a decrease in work intensity and a general improvement of working conditions, the question is who benefits from it. Only the management and those who support its policy really benefit, not majority of workers.

In the coming months, the Workers’ Initiative union is planning events with the slogan "Do not downsize ! Reduce work time and work intensity ! ".

The employees also created a strike fund. At this difficult moment, they seek the support of all workers. They do not want to rely on the support of elites and the establishment. They proclaim that international solidarity from below is the main factor of success in the struggle. Any support for the lifting of the strike fund strengthens their resilience and reflects also the practical dimension of RED.
International solidarity.
